How do you delete comments on Poshmark?
You aren’t able to delete comments yourself on Poshmark (at least not yet), but there are workarounds to get a comment removed. The best way is to report it. Tap the flag icon below the comment and select the reason (spam, transaction off Poshmark, offensive comment, or harassment). Another option is to delete and relist your item.
The easiest way to have a comment removed is to mark it by tapping the flag icon. This lets Poshmark know that the comment is unwanted, so they’ll take appropriate action. Tapping the flag income will bring up a box for you to select your reason for wanting the comment removed. There are only four reasons available:
Spam
Transaction off Poshmark
Offensive comment
Harassment
Those four choices don’t cover every reason you might have but don’t worry about that. You can select any of those four and the comment will be sent to a moderation team for review.
In my experience, comments are removed quickly within a few minutes. It’s possible that the comment will remain though if it doesn’t meet the criteria for removal.
Poshmark’s filter is now pretty good at catching spam and requests for contact off of Poshmark. These comments are usually removed automatically within seconds of being posted.
Poshmark doesn’t catch everything though, so you may have to request the removal of some comments yourself.
Reasons to delete comments
1) Price negotiation
Some people want to negotiate the price of an item in the comment section. They’ll write, “would you take $15?” or “15?” Why do they do this?
The person could be a new user and unfamiliar with how people negotiate prices.
The person just wants to know if you’d take the price they’re throwing out. They don’t want to send you an offer for that amount because offers are binding. You might accept it! They’re probably unsure if they want the item or at that price.
They don’t care if others see the conversation.
If you see this and want to talk to the user, you can let the person know you don’t negotiate prices in the comments and ask him or her to send you an offer. Or you can bundle the item for the person and continue the conversation there.
Bundles are semi-private in that they can be seen by others if they click around on your profile to get to it. Most people don’t know that or don’t care to look so the bundle is essentially private.
2) Advertisement
You’ll sometimes come across people advertising their own closet in your closet. Someone might write a comment like “I would love for you to stop by my closet for amazing deals. I’m having a sale 3/$15.” Everyone who reads the comments of your listing will see it.
I’ve even seen people comment that they have the item cheaper or saw it cheaper in so-and-so’s closet. Ugh! Go ahead and flag that comment.
3) Spam
You may receive a comment saying how the person is interested in your item and asking you to contact them via Gmail or some other means off of Poshmark. Most of these comments are caught by Poshmark’s spam filters, but some get through.
Scammers will spell email addresses with spaces or other odd punctuation so that it gets around the filters. Most of these comments happen on new listings and/or to new users.
The scammers hope that someone will not know any better and contact them off Poshmark. They may want the item or your personal information. You don’t need to respond. Just flag the comment for removal.
Rude comments
Rude comments are the most interesting type of comment. You’ll see some of the scenarios below and more.
People who are upset that you’re charging more than the retail price for an item. Sellers sometimes price over retail for in-demand items that are sold out elsewhere online.
People who ask you to model shoes because they have a thing for feet, not because they want to buy the shoes.
People who are upset about how long a seller takes to ship an item or how long it takes to receive an item.
Sellers who want buyers to accept a package immediately after delivery. The acceptance window is 3 days.
Block a user
You can go beyond having a comment removed and block the other user altogether. The person won’t be allowed to comment on any of your listings.
This is a good option when someone is sending negative comments repeatedly or trying to argue with you in your closet.
To block someone
Go to their closet
Tap on the three dots in the top right corner
Tap “Block User”
Relisting an item
Another option to delete comments is to delete the listing. It’s unlikely you will have to do this, but it’s an option if flagging a comment doesn’t work.
The easiest way to relist an item is to use the copy feature.
Click “Edit” on a listing
Scroll down to the bottom and click “Copy Listing”
Change anything you want about the item such as the price or removing the word “copy” from the title.
Click through to list the item
Go back and delete the original listing.
You might be concerned about losing the likes that an item has. In that case, you have a few options.
Flag a comment or multiple comments for removal, which will likely happen.
Leave the comment. Not everyone looks at the comments section, especially if they saw it previously when they liked the item.
Lower the price of the item and see if it will sell before trying to relist it.
Final Thoughts
You may encounter negative, spammy, or just plain inappropriate comments on Poshmark from time to time. Thankfully, deleting comments on Poshmark is easy and only takes a few clicks. Don’t give it more than a moment’s thought so that you can move on and focus on making sales once again.
