Spring 2017 Thrift Fashion Finds

My Spring 2017 Thrift Fashion Finds

One of the very first reasons why I started this blog was to share my adventures and finds from thrift shopping. I’ve always been a bargain shopper and love finding clothes and accessories at great prices.

After taking a break from shopping earlier this year (yes, I do get tired of shopping), I got back into it in April and came away with some fabulous finds.

My goal these past few weeks has been to find spring and summer clothes. It doesn’t get very warm here in San Francisco, and summers can be downright cold. I even wore my winter jacket to dinner last week because it was so chilly and windy outside.

Still, I want to step away from wearing dark colors so commonly found in fall and winter clothing. I found some floral prints and warm pastels perfect for this time of year and the items below.

When I find something I love, I try to buy extras so that I can replace it when I've worn it out. I have a beloved Guess watch that I've had for years. It had some pretty beat up looking bands but I didn't want to get a new watch.

Luckily for me, I found someone on Poshmark selling the same watch that I have with interchangeable bands for only $10! Now I have two of the same watch in case one breaks and a few nice bands that work with both of them.

What else is new?

In April, Poshmark hosted a stop on their PoshNation: The Seller Stylist Tour right here in San Francisco. If you’re not familiar with Poshmark, it’s an app to buy and sell women’s, men’s, and children’s fashion.

I was so excited to attend my first Poshmark event and meet other Poshers. With a photo booth, raffle, appetizers, wine, and lots of Poshers, the event was a hit! I hope to attend more of their events in the future.

If you’re interesting in joining Poshmark and don’t yet have an account, you can receive a free $10 bonus when you sign up with my code SFGIRL2015.

Also in April, I finally made a trip to the new Goodwill that opened up in SF earlier this year. I visited one rainy morning and was surprised to find only a handful of people there the entire time I shopped.

Everything in the store was in good condition. Some of the items were even new with tags. The clothes were neatly hung on matching hangers, shoes color coordinated and evenly spaced, and the aisles and dressing rooms clean and well-lit.

The place reminded me a Goodwill Boutique or a more carefully curated second-hand clothing shop. While it was small and the prices a little higher than at other locations, it was good to see a new thrift store open up around here. Many others have closed or are planning to close soon due to development in SF.

What’s next?

In the next few weeks, I’ll be on the lookout for July 4th wear. That’s anything red, white, or blue, or with stars or stripes.

Last year I didn’t look for patriotic themed clothing until it was too late and I didn’t find anything that I liked. I’ve already come across a few items I liked this year, but they weren’t in good enough condition for me to buy or wear. That’s the case sometimes with second-hand clothing.

I’m also excited to find some clothes for trips I have planned during the second half of this year. I can’t wait to show you what I find when the time comes around.

Lastly, I’m on the look-out for some of the latest and my favorite styles.

  • Off-the-shoulder tops

  • Stripes

  • Floral prints

  • Lace over nude material dresses

  • Athletic wear

If you have some great second-hand finds recently, please share! I never get tired of oooh-ing and ahh-ing at the things people find. Happy thrift hunting!
