Brands I Sold on Poshmark, eBay, & Mercari – August 2020

Brands I Sold on Poshmark, eBay, & Mercari – August 2020

I’ve been chomping at the bit to get back into reselling this summer after a slow me first half of 2020. I moved at the end of the year and shuffled between jobs. Then COVID hit and thrift stores closed. Once June came around and stores reopened, I got into a rhythm of thrifting, listing, and selling that has carried through the summer.

I’ve always found it helpful to see what other sellers have sold so I can keep in mind the brands, items, and styles to look for when I shop. I’ll share mine as well with a look at my August sales.

What I Sold

Victoria’s Secret neon romper - Sold $21

Victoria’s Secret is hit or miss for me. I aim to pick up VS items if they’re new or trendy in excellent condition.

Lilly Pulitzer Whiting Cut Out shift dress - Sold: $25

Lilly Pulitzer doesn’t sell as well for me as it used to. I used to list an item and it would get likes and offers soon after. Now LP items can sit for a long time, especially if it’s a small size like a 0 or it’s less popular style like a strapless dress.

I look for the newer pieces and rare older piece. Newer pieces have a color tag while older pieces have black and white tags.

ModCloth Your Time to Shine dress - Sold: $33

ModCloth is also hit or miss for me. I picked up this dress because it was new and had a gorgeous green shine that would make it a perfect holiday dress. I’ve passed on other ModCloth dresses though because they were used and looked like every other dress out there. This dress got a lot of likes, and I accepted an offer on it.

Luli Fama Cuba Libre swimsuit - Sold: $40

Have you heard of this brand before? I hadn’t until I found this swimsuit at the thrift store. Tops and bottoms retail for about $90 each and one-pieces for about $160 and the pieces are on-trend, so it sells for a good amount at resale too.

Allbirds shoes - Sold: $60

This was my first time finding Allbirds although it’s been on my be-on-the-lookout list for a long time. Other brands on the list are Rothy’s, Tieks, and Tory Burch shoes.

Blundstone boots - Sold: $80

Thank you to the kind Poshmark user who asked me about the sizing of these boots. I didn’t know that Blundstone uses Australian sizing. I almost sold these as a US 6 when they were actually an AUS 6 or US 9.

It’s impossible to know everything about a brand out there. I’m so thankful to other Poshers for telling me the style names of items, guiding me with sizing, and other support.

Reformation key hole dress - Sold: $28

I love selling Reformation when I find this brand. Every item I’ve had by Reformation has gotten a lot of interest. This dress isn’t the most popular of their styles and I think was an older style. I was happy to accept an offer on it.

Wildfang button down shirt - Sold: $30

This is a new brand I learned about while shopping. Their shirts are made for women and retail for about $88. I found three of these shirts at the same time and all of them sold within a few weeks of listing them.

Democracy jeans - Sold: $25

I bought these because they were new with tag, a larger size, and looked comfortable. Although they’re not especially high-end, they got a lot of likes over multiple relistings. I accepted an offer on it.

Lululemon men’s pants - Sold: $40

You really can’t go wrong with quality pieces in excellent condition by Lululemon. These men’s pants were mixed in the women’s section, but I recognize them right away. Lululemon shorts and pants sell better than tops for me. I got an offer on these within a few hours of listing them.

A.P.C. dress - Sold: $25

This dress was missing its belt but still sold.

NWT Gudrun Sjoden tunic - Sold: $55

Once in a while I come across well-made Scandinavian designed clothes like this tunic. I know brands like this one aren’t well-known in the US, but they have their fans. It’s just a matter of waiting for those people to find your item.

This tunic sold on eBay about 2 months after being listed. I had a feeling it would sell on eBay too because eBay has a different audience than Poshmark.

Ibex Juliet skirt - Sold: $59

Ibex offer some great quality wool clothing. This sold for full price. Yay!

Dogo rainbow sweater - Sold: $22

Don’t forget the dogs! People love buying clothes for their dogs too. I purchased this one because it’s about $35 retail and just so cute.

Some thoughts and notes

I made these sales with roughly 150-175 items available during the month. (Small closet, I know.) My goal has been to get to 300 available listings by fall. That hasn’t happened in part due to the good fortune of selling many of the items I’ve listed. I’ll take the sales instead!

What helped me this month was getting back into sourcing regularly and staying on top of listing. Sales slowed when I didn’t list, relist, or share my items. Once I got back into the hustle and made offers to likers and watchers, the sales started up again.

I’m interested to hear how sales are going for you.

How did you do with last month’s sales? What brands sold for you? Any surprises? How many listings do you have available for sale?
