Brands I Sold on Poshmark, eBay, & Mercari – September 2020
Sales keep coming in from July to August to September. Here’s a look at what sold for me on Poshmark, eBay, and Mercari in September.

What I Sold
Kate Spade polka dot bow purse – Sold: $30
Kate Spade can sell well. But if you’ve seen how many Kate Spade items are on Poshmark, you’ll know that this brand can sit for a long time too. This purse had been in my closet for a looooong time. I was happy to see it go to a new home, and the buyer really liked it.
Zimmermann wrap front blouse – Sold: $44
September was a great month for checking off brands on my BOLO (be on the lookout) list. One of the brands I found for the first time was Zimmermann. Just look up Zimmermann dresses, and you’ll fall in love with this brand! I wish I could’ve found a dress, but this blouse did well for a first-time find.
J. Crew Polartec pullover – Sold: $30
I relisted this pullover many times before it finally sold. I think this is relatively high priced for a used J. Crew pullover. It was the only one in this color combination though, which I thought gave it a nice retro look.
KLM Delft Houses x3 – Sold: $36
These little houses by the Dutch airline KLM were so cute that I had to pick them up. I kept them on display at home for a while before putting them up for sale.
Gal Meets Glam dress – Sold: $40
This was another brand on my BOLO list. This dress was in excellent condition and sold shortly after I listed it.
Veronica Beard Bria dress – Sold: $30
This was my first time finding Veronica Beard, even though I’d had my eye out for this brand for a while. I sold this dress at a relatively low price because it had some wear like buttons needing reinforcement.
Allbirds tree breezers shoes – Sold: $60
This was my second time finding Allbirds. Lucky me, I came across two pairs of these flats this month. Both were in excellent condition and sold within a few days of listing.
Spanx jean-ish leggings – Sold: $30
I was excited to find these Spanx leggings new with tag for only $4.99. I didn’t find any takers after lowering the price and relisting it several times, so I accepted an offer on it.
NWT Something Navy Tara dress – Sold: $65
This is another brand that was on my BOLO list. This dress is still being sold in stores.
Black Crane top – Sold: $27
What do you call this style of clothing? It’s modern, monochrome, and boxy. It’s popular too. This top probably could’ve sold for more.
BlackMilk Midsummer leggings – Sold: $45
BlackMilk in an Australian brand that makes fun print clothing like these leggings. Some of the items sell for a lot at resale because they’re rare prints.
NWT Outdoor Research Voodoo pants – Sold: $45
These pants were new, a popular style, and a good size to sell (women’s 12). I sent out offers and someone accepted.
Silk Laundry blouse – Sold: $33
This is another Australian brand of beautiful, elegant silk clothing. This sold relatively low priced because it had some wear and small flaws to it.
MOTHER denim skirt – Sold: $29
I like selling Mother denim whenever I find it. I had a hard time selling this because I didn’t know the size of it.
Equipment blouse – Sold: $30
Isn’t the green ombre snake print amusing? This sold to someone in the Netherlands!
Anthropologie Moth Hullabaloo sweater dress – Sold: $25
I’m very picky about what I buy from Anthro and even pickier about Moth because a lot of Anthro doesn’t sell like it used to. This was a unique boho style patchwork dress, so I knew it’d get a lot of interest even though it had some pilling. I had to relist it several times and ignore lowball offers.
Some thoughts and notes
I had lots of small sales in September too. I sold many other pants, tops, and other types of clothing through offers to likers/watchers or accepted offers. Those sales were <$25 each. I sold some children’s clothes and have items like socks available for sale. These types of items tend to sell for $10 or less for me.
Some people don’t like small sales and don’t find them worth their time. It takes about the same amount of time to list, share, and package high-value items as it does low-value items, but high-value items give you a better return. You basically do less for the same amount of profit.
Some sellers only have access to items that sell at lower prices, so that’s what they sell. It’s really a matter of personal preference for what you find worth your time. I don’t mind smaller sales because they add up.
I’m still a big fan of selling on multiple platforms. I’m on three, aiming for 4 platforms soon. This is how my sales broke down in September in terms of $ made, not # of items sold.
Poshmark – 53%
Mercari – 25%
eBay – 22%
With October here, I have a few things in mind to keep sales going this month:
Shop consistently. I got busy with work and life in September and couldn’t shop much of the second half of the month. Less shopping -> less items to list -> less items to sell -> less sales.
Source items that will sell for at least $25. On PM, a $25 sale results in a $5 commission to PM and a $20 profit for the seller. You have to subtract the cost of your good from there and determine if what you earn is worth it to you. For some people, $25 is a good sale, while it’s not for others. That’s what I’m aiming for more of this month.
Supporting the Glass Fire recovery effort. 50% of October profits will go to this cause. I haven’t decided on a specific organization yet. It may be for the people affected by the fire, the animals affected by the fire, or both.
How were your September sales? Any surprises? What do you have planned for October and beyond?
