Have you ever wanted to ask a seller a question on Poshmark but didn’t want the whole world to see it? Maybe you didn’t want others to know you’re interested in a certain item. Or you wanted to negotiate a lower price without eyes on your numbers. You’re in luck because this post covers different ways to contact a Poshmark seller.

How do you contact a Poshmark seller privately?
The only way to contact a Poshmark seller completely privately is to locate the item under “my purchases” and hit “message seller” after the purchase. Before the purchase, you can send a public message or a semi-private message using the bundle feature.
Read on for more details…
Public message
The main way to contact someone is to tag the person @username and write your message.
My username is sfgirl2015, so someone would contact me by writing @sfgirl2015 in the message.
You can do this on Meet the Posher profiles, a seller’s items, or any other listing. Ask questions, make a comment, or even tag a friend who you want to see the item!
You might notice that some people ask for modeling, trades, or negotiating prices in the comments. Several years ago, commenting publicly with a price was the only way to negotiate before the offer button was added.
Many sellers will be happy to answer questions in the public comments, but nowadays they won’t negotiate price there because public messages are not easily deletable.
Let’s say I have something listed for $50 and you offer $30. I say yes and change the price to $30 and you don’t buy it.
Now everyone who views my listing will see that I was willing to accept $30. They will offer $30 or maybe even less.
This happened to me so many times back in the day! Many buyers will negotiate and not buy. That’s their right, but then you have to go about getting rid of the comment.
A seller can flag a comment as spam, harassment, etc. That’s not very nice to do because it’s just an interested buyer. More likely the seller has to relist their item and lose all the likes the item had.
Most people will only negotiate in a bundle or through the offer feature, which brings us to our next method.
Semi-private message
Bundles are an easy way to group multiple listings from a seller’s closet. Note that a bundle doesn’t have to be several items. It can be just one item.
Sometimes potential buyers bundle an item or several items because they’re hoping the seller will make them a bundle offer, which is more like a personal offer or private discount to one person.
Once you’re in the bundle, you can write comments and even hold a conversation. I’ve chatted with other Poshmark sellers and even had a bundle with over 100 exchanges between us!
The reason this is semi-private is that anyone can see the bundle and comments, but it requires a few clicks and the interest to do it. Most people including me don’t go looking through people’s bundles.
Your time is probably better spent on more important things, so it’s likely no one but you and the potential buyer will read it.
Here’s how to see your own bundles that you’re buying and selling.
The placement and icons are similar whether you’re on the website or the Poshmark app.
1) Click on the shopping bag/purse icon on the top right.
2) Click between “Shop” and “Sell” on the left side to see the bundles you are shopping from others or those you are selling.
Here’s how to see other people’s bundles:
1) Click on the three horizontal dots on the top right and select the first option “Bundles from @username”.
2) Click on “View Bundle” for the bundles you want to see.
Private message
Before the purchase or sale
There’s currently no way to communicate privately on Poshmark before a purchase or sale, only afterward. Poshmark probably does that because it’s a social platform and public messages appear more social.
It might be easier to monitor public messages too. Although they have programs that scan for prohibited comments and items, it helps to have public viewers like you and me flag violations we come across.
Poshmark policy is to keep all communication and transactions on the platform. This is a good policy because they offer buyer and seller protection.
That’s to protect you from scams like comments on your listing asking you to email them. Someone will say they like your listing and to contact them at a random email address like xyz123@gmail.com so they can purchase. Don’t do it!
Those are spam messages designed to take you off of Poshmark where people will try to steal your item, your money, or both.
In general, I think it’s smart to keep everything on the platform. That gives you the best chance of a smooth and successful transaction.
But you can go off the platform if you chose to.
Poshmark allows people to add a link to their profile. That link could be to almost anything.
I link to my Milkshake website. It’s like Linktree. It’s meant for placing all your links in one place. Common links you’ll see:
Social media accounts
Closets on other platforms
Private boutique websites
Amazon affiliate links
Seller supply websites
Blogs
YouTube channels
I even have my Meet the Posher cover picture show my blog, Instagram, and YouTube usernames.
You could find and contact someone privately on one of those platforms if they have one listed. Most people don’t have anything linked at all, and this method has its risks.
I wouldn’t typically recommend it, but it’s your choice whether or not to communicate on another platform because you want to do so privately.
I don’t recall ever having anyone go about this method to contact me. They may have and just not told me about it.
Most of the time people switch between various platforms or communication methods to say hello and ask or comment about selling on Poshmark. I think most people stick to Poshmark to communicate about buying and selling.
After the purchase or sale
Poshmark recently introduced a way to privately communicate with buyers and sellers after an item has been purchased or sold.
If you purchased an item, go to “My Purchases”, select the item you purchased, and tap on “Message Seller”.
If you sold an item, go to “My Sales”, select the item you sold, and tap on “Message Buyer”.
I guess this is good for privacy. Let’s say you purchased something that you don’t want everyone to know about like a surprise gift or some underwear. You can ask for the item to be packaged nicely or held for a day or two before shipping without everyone seeing your business.
Now it’d just be nice if Poshmark extended private messages throughout the platform no matter who, when, or what was purchased. But then Poshmark wouldn’t seem so social, would it?
You can suggest it to Poshmark if it’s something you want to see. Who knows? It may come out one day in the future because you and others requested it.
