PrimeLister Review: Everything You Need to Know Before Signing Up

PrimeLister Review: Everything You Need to Know Before Signing Up

Updated 3/5/22

Over the past year, I’ve been on a search to find the best crosslisting service that helps resellers like you and me save time and increase our sales. Most recently, I was invited to try PrimeLister, a growing online service for resellers. In this post, I share a comprehensive and honest review of my experience using PrimeLister including how it works, pricing, and its best features, so you can decide if it’s right for you.

What’s PrimeLister?

PrimeLister is a paid online tool offering two main services:

1) Crosslisting

PrimeLister’s crosslisting service helps sellers quickly and easily list their items to multiple marketplaces to drive more sales. The service is also set up to help sellers keep their inventory organized and up-to-date by having their listings cataloged all in one place.

2) Poshmark Automation

PrimeLister’s automation service helps sellers like listings, share listings, and follow other Poshers automatically. It also has automatic return activity meaning that it can return follow and return shares, and you can set a return auto share limit. This is all done by a bot that is programmed to do the work without you needing to be at the computer.

The automation service also includes the relisting to Poshmark feature. It’s no longer a necessary to buy separate packages for automation and relisting.

I purchased only the crosslisting service because I needed to list my inventory to multiple marketplaces. I chose not to use or review the Poshmark automation service because it’s not for me at this point in my selling journey.

Both the crosslisting and automation services are available for free during a 7-day trial period. You have access to both and can use them simultaneously.

Once the trial period is over, they become two separate services with two separate prices. You can subscribe to one, the other, or both. More details of the trial period are in the Pros section further below.

Why use PrimeLister?

Like most resellers, I want to sell more and make more money, but reselling is work- and time-intensive. There’s sourcing, cleaning items, listing them, crosslisting them, making offers to buyers, packaging sales, shipping sales, tracking inventory, tracking income and taxes, and more!

If that list doesn’t overwhelm you, imagine trying to crosslist 500 items to 5 different marketplaces one at a time by copying and pasting every picture and word. It would take hours, maybe even days, to get it done.

We all have other obligations outside of selling too, so if we’re to make the most of our time and grow our businesses, we need tools that will help us do the work easier and faster. PrimeLister does just that.

How does PrimeLister work?

PrimeLister works as a Google Chrome extension on the computer. It takes just a few minutes to install it and get it running.

You also need to have accounts on each of the marketplaces where you want to sell and be logged into them for PrimeLister to work.

PrimeLister works with 7 marketplaces:

  • Poshmark - US, Canada, & Australia

  • Mercari

  • Facebook

  • eBay - US, Canada, & Australia

  • Etsy

  • Depop

  • Instagram

PL has plans to add 4 more marketplaces - Grailed, Shopify, Tradesy, and Kidizen - in 2022.

You can crosslist items in two ways:

  1. Directly from a marketplace - List an item onto any of the 7 current marketplaces. Then select the item or items you want to crosslist and the target marketplace. For example, you can click on an item in Poshmark and direct it to crosslist to Mercari.

  2. Using the PrimeLister Inventory Panel - Import items from one of the marketplaces to the PrimeLister Inventory Panel. Then direct it to crosslist to one or multiple marketplaces from there.

Crosslist from a marketplace

PrimeLister fills in an item’s images, title, description, and price. You’ll have to fill out any additional information specific to that marketplace such as the item’s category, quantity, brand, color, and shipping selection.

How much is PrimeLister?

PrimeLister Crosslisting has two price tiers - Basic and Pro. There is a 30% discount when purchased annually versus monthly. The difference between the two tiers is the number of features available for use.

Basic - $29.99 per month or about $250 if paid annually

Pro - $49.99 per month or about $400 if paid annually

The picture shows which features are available on the Basic and Pro plans. I’ll go over some of the main features in more detail below.

What are PrimeLister’s features?

  • Auto-relist - PrimeLister relists your items when you select them, or you can schedule them for later relisting. Relisting is a key reseller strategy to get items to the top of search results, get them seen by more potential buyers, and raise the price of items that have been discounted. Auto-relist is available on both the Basic and Pro plans.

  • Listing tasks - This means the ability to list items on a marketplace. There’s no limit to the amount of inventory you can have or the number of times you can list or relist those items. The listing tasks feature is available on both the Basic and Pro plans.

  • Scheduled tasks - You can schedule to list or relist your items later. This is good for listing items at times when more people are going to view them or for anticipated drops.

  • Bulk tasks - This is the ability to complete an action on multiple items at once. You can import multiple items at one time from a marketplace to the Inventory Panel. You can make a bulk offer on multiple items at the same time on Mercari. The bulk tasks feature is available on both the Basic and Pro plans.

  • Crosslisting - This is exactly how it sounds. List your items from a marketplace or the Inventory Panel to other marketplaces. With multi-target crosslisting, you can crosslist one item to multiple marketplaces with just a few clicks. This feature is available only on the Pro plan.

  • Tags & groups - Tags & groups help to organize inventory better by segmenting and categorizing items. You can use tags to search by details like size or shipping type. You can use groups to post listings in bulk. This feature is available only on the Pro plan.

Is PrimeLister allowed by marketplaces?

Some marketplaces allow the use of services like PrimeLister, or at least some features of it, while other marketplaces do not. Read on to see what I mean.

Poshmark

Poshmark allows its sellers to use third-party services, but automation is against its terms of service. This makes PrimeLister’s Crosslist service a bit tricky to use because it is partly automated.

If you want to follow the rules to a tee, you could use the crosslist feature to list your items to multiple marketplaces, but you could not use the auto relist feature. You would also not be able to use the scheduling feature because that’s automated as well.

Now thousands of sellers use automated services for Poshmark and other marketplaces. Many well-known resellers with sizable followings use automated services. They’re open about it and even promote them.

I say this not to persuade you one way or the other but to point out some things to consider about using PrimeLister and automated services in general.

Mercari

Mercari does not allow the use of third-party services. They don’t have their policy on it listed on the website, but I was told that third-party services are not allowed when I wrote to Mercari asking about it.

Mercari is also strict about infractions of its rules. I haven’t heard of sellers being banned from Mercari for using a third-party or automated service, and I suspect they wouldn’t if the service is being used in a way that mimics real human behavior.

But I have heard of people being banned for having two accounts linked to one address and selling items that are not allowed on the marketplace. Mercari doesn’t reinstate banned users.

eBay

eBay recognizes the importance of third-party services to run and grow one’s business. The company has taken this a step further and enlisted many companies as official eBay partners.

I searched eBay and didn’t find anything written about the use of non-official third-party services. I haven’t heard of anyone being banned from eBay because of using a third-party service or automation, although it’s a possibility.

Overall, I think it’s unlikely that a person would be suspended or permanently banned from a marketplace for using a third-party or automated service, but as the owner of your business, you make the decisions for your business.

I recommend reading the policies of each marketplace or contacting the marketplace if you can’t find answers to your questions. Then decide if it’s worth it to use a service like PrimeLister.

Pros

1 | PrimeLister works!

PrimeLister has made it easier and faster for me to crosslist and relist my items. I used to relist my items once every few weeks if I got to it. Now I relist my items more frequently, anywhere from once a week to once a month.

Relisting has helped me get stale items more likes or sold. For example, I had a NWT Garnet Hill top that hadn’t sold after being listed for several months. It was cute but a size 0, which is harder to sell. I used PrimeLister to relist it on Mercari, and it sold the next day.

While that doesn’t happen with every item, it’s common to get new likes on items when they are relisted. Those may turn into offers and sales.

2 | Easy to use

I’m not a tech-savvy person, so finding services that are easy to use is key for me. I don’t want to have to watch multiple tutorials and submit a bunch of help requests to use a service. I found PrimeLister fairly intuitive to use. When I did have questions, I was able to find answers in their Help section.

The Knowledge Base for help

3 | List to every marketplace at the same cost

You can list to all 7 of the marketplaces PrimeLister offers with your subscription fee. This is instead of being given access to a few marketplaces and being charged more to access them all. I imagine that their model will remain the same when they expand to offer 11 marketplaces next year.

4 | Unlimited inventory, listing, and relisting

Many full-time sellers have thousands of listings available for sale. The ability to add all of that inventory to the Inventory Panel and be able to list them and relist without limits is a great benefit. You aren’t restrained in this area.

My Inventory Panel

5 | Variable task interval

PrimeLister relists items with variable time intervals anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes. You can set the interval: 30 seconds to 3 minutes, 1 to 5 minutes, and 5 to 10 minutes. This is to mimic human behavior so as not to raise any suspicion that you are using a third-party service or automation.

6 | Competitively priced

PrimeLister is reasonably priced compared to its competitors.

I paid $49.99 for the PrimeLister Pro Plan, which I think is the more beneficial of the two plans and necessary for a large-volume or business seller. The price goes down to $33.33 if you pay for a year at a time.

On Vendoo, I paid $31.98 per month to list up to 125 items or $41.98 for up to 250 items and their bundle of add-on features.

On ListPerfectly, I paid $49 per month for the middle tier Business Plan between the $29 Simple Plan and $69 Pro Plan. There was no annual discount available.

7 | Ability to add tags or group listings

I touched on this feature above. The ability to tag or group listings is important for sorting, tracking, and managing your items how you’d like. Say it’s August and you want to sell off the swimwear in your inventory because you don’t want it to sit in storage until next summer. If you have tagged or grouped your swimwear as swimwear, you can easily pull up those listings and crosslist or discount them to get them sold.

8 | Minimal glitches

A certain amount of technical issues or glitches is expected with every crosslisting service. Marketplaces are constantly making changes that affect the functioning of services like PrimeLister. It can take time to fix the glitches and ensure things work well again.

I didn’t notice many glitches while using PrimeLister. I read about some glitches and received updates that others were fixed, but I didn’t experience them myself.

I did check the list of completed tasks every day or so to see what tasks were completed and if there were any that couldn’t be completed.

No matter what service I use, I double-check my listings every week or so to prevent duplicate sales and other costly errors. I’ll quickly run through the PrimeLister Inventory Panel and the marketplaces looking for items I forgot to mark sold or delist, free shipping when I meant to have buyers pay, and things like that.

If you have feedback or are wondering about current or past changes, you can see them on the Roadmap. I liked this transparency because you can see how the features that you want are coming along.

Part of PrimeLister’s Roadmap

9 | Customer support

Customer support is available through email and chat on their Inventory page. If support is away from the chat, you can write in the chat box and they’ll respond by email in a day or two.

I’ve contacted customer support a few times via email and chat and found the employees to be friendly and helpful. They’re receptive to suggestions and feedback on how to make the service better.

10 | 7-day free trial

The 7-day free trial is very generous and doesn’t require a credit card to access it. During that time, you can cross-list or relist up to 100 listings and complete up to 15,000 actions such as sharing listings and following other sellers.

I think that’s plenty of listings and actions to learn how PrimeLister works and see how it can help your business.

If you don’t use the service enough during the trial period to gain a good feel for it, you can even ask for an extension. You can also cancel at any time.

11 | Lots of new updates

PrimeLister keeps the updates coming. Here are some of the features that came out recently:

  • Bulk update price of listings when you relist items

  • Use advanced filters to filter your listings such as by age of your listing, number of likes, current listing price, and more.

Both of these features make it faster to identify which items to relist and update their prices when they are relisted.

Although I didn’t utilize the Poshmark Automation service, I noticed lots of updates to it in addition to the bulk update price and advanced filters features.

  • Automatically send offers to likers. You can set it to send right away or after a delay.

  • You can choose what shipping discount you want to include in the offer.

  • Organize your Poshmark closet by dragging and dropping listings versus having to share every item in your closet on Poshmark.

12 | PrimeLister is growing and improving

PrimeLister is working hard to grow its service. The company plans to publish new features soon:

  • Auto De-List - When an item is sold, PrimeLister will detect it and automatically remove the item from other marketplaces to prevent duplicate sales. Currently when you click to delist an item, the listing is deactivated on a marketplace but not deleted.

  • Sales Analytics - This will show you data about what you’ve sold so that you can make decisions to further your sales.

Additional features coming by the of the first quarter of 2022:

  • Ability to create listings in PrimeLister

  • Ability to edit listings imported to PrimeLister versus the marketplaces

  • Mobile app support

Features planned for further in the future

  • Editing photos in PrimeLister

Cons

1 | Number of marketplaces

As mentioned above, PrimeLister currently supports 7 marketplaces, which will extend to 11 next year. If you sell somewhere that is not listed or coming soon, you’ll spend additional time manually crosslisting there.

2 | Need to have the Pro Plan to see the most benefit

There are two features I really want from any crosslisting service I use:

  • The ability to crosslist easily to multiple marketplaces

  • Automatically delisting the item from other marketplaces when I mark the item sold.

These two things save time, promote more views, and prevent accidentally selling the same item twice.

The crosslisting feature is currently only available on PrimeLister’s Pro Plan, so if you subscribe to the Basic Plan, you won’t have the ability to crosslist, which I think is key to making more sales. PrimeLister is updating their pricing model so that smaller resellers will soon have access to all the features. Automatic delisting is also coming soon. but not yet available.

3 | Sometimes Mercari & Poshmark have to be open to work

Mercari usually has to be open as the front window or browser tab for it to work. That means you might not be able to do anything else on your computer while PrimeLister is running in Mercari.

It’s the same for some Poshmark listings with videos. Sometimes they will get stuck in the relisting process and need to be brought to the front for relisting to be completed.

Sometimes Mercari will open in a new tab and work in the background on its own. If it doesn’t, I usually switch between tasks now and then to bring Mercari to the front. Another workaround is to schedule relisting for overnight hours or away from the computer for a few hours and leave your computer on.

4 | No automatic delisting

This feature is coming soon. For now, when you tell PrimeLister to delist something, it makes it “not for sale” or deactivates it. You have to go into each marketplace to delete the listing. This adds more time to the sales process.

5 | Lack of additional features

Some of these may be in the works but are not yet available.

  • Sales analytics - There currently isn’t a way to save details of sales such as sold price, shipping charge, number of sold versus listed items, etc. for easy viewing later. You’ll need another spreadsheet to track the important details of your sales for your own knowledge of your business and tax purposes.

  • Drafts - Some resellers like to draft items to work on them and publish them when they please.

  • Adding additional information when crosslisting - Currently only an item’s images, title, description, and price copy over when crosslisting. You have to fill in the category, size, and other information by hand. This may change when PrimeLister starts offering the ability to create listings on their website.

6 | Use of automation

I mentioned above that automation is not allowed by Poshmark and likely by some other marketplaces. There’s almost no way around automation if you decide to use PrimeLister. It’s part of their Crosslist Basic and Pro Plans and part of their Poshmark Automation service.

I asked PrimeLister about their approach to this. They differentiate two ways of using automation: for your daily tasks and to spam the platform. PrimeLister strongly discourages any spamming activity. The tool is meant for automation within the limits of a human being. They pointed out that none of the thousands of their users has been banned so far.

Additional thoughts

PrimeLister is the company for you if

  • You want an easy-to-use tool to crosslist your inventory.

  • You sell on the 7 marketplaces they support.

  • You’re comfortable using automation that may not be allowed by some marketplaces.

  • Its existing features are enough for your business. You can wait for the launch of some additional marketplaces and features in 2022.

Wrap Up

There are many crosslisting services available to resellers today. It’s hard to know the differences between them and which one is the best for your business. That’s why I want to sign up for PrimeLister and write about it.

PrimeLister has been helpful to my business over the past few months making it easier to crosslist and relist my items. That’s gotten me more views and likes for my items, which I then turned into offers and sales.

The service is easy to use, even for non-techy people like me. And their customer service has been responsive and friendly.

The issues I’ve had with PrimeLister are that Mercari and sometimes Poshmark are unable to work in the background as well as the lack of some features like sales analytics and delisting items completely. There are workarounds though, and more features are coming as PrimeLister grows and expands its business.

If you decide to sign up, know that some marketplaces allow the use of services like PrimeLister while others do not. Check the rules and decide what’s right for you and your business.
