My Sales on Poshmark, eBay, & Mercari - Summer 2020
It’s been a long while since I shared with you my recent thrift finds and sales on the blog. The world has changed drastically.
In my own life, I changed homes, switched job locations four times, and dedicated more time to creating content on other platforms like Instagram and YouTube. Then Covid-19 hit, and the thrift stores and other retail stores in my area closed for months.
Sales slowed on my already small closet. I was down to about 80 available listings for sale, which is too few for me to make frequent and steady sales.
I imagine many other sellers, maybe even you, experienced the same downturn in the first half of the year. (If your sales increased, lucky you!)
Some thrift stores and many retail shops near me have reopened by now. The stores are stocked! I’m listing lots of new inventory and sales have gone up.
Now I can share my summer sales with you!

What I Sold
Cole Haan Landsman bootie 10B – Sold: $39
I dropped the price of these shoes and relisted them frequently. They got lots of likes so I knew people were interested. They sold when I discounted them during a Closet Clear Out day.
Madewell Oxfords 8.5 – Sold: $30
Madewell items are a hit or miss for me. I’ve stopped picking up their tops, sweaters, and most dresses because the resale value isn’t there given the prices at the stores I frequent. The jeans and shoes are hot sellers though, so be on the lookout for those.
James Perse shirt dress – Sold: $30
Suno dress – Sold: $33
This beautiful embroidered floral dress was in fair, not great condition. I took a best offer on eBay.
Marine Layer Allison pants – Sold: $70
These pants are Marine Layer’s most popular item. If you ever come across these Allison pants with their simple style and dolphin hem, pick them up because they’ll sell well. These pants were in excellent condition and black, which made them more in demand.
Apiece Apart jumpsuit – Sold: $30
Eloquii floral ruffle blouse – Sold: $20
Stella McCartney Lauren Whistling bra 34B – Sold: $30
Stella McCartney is another brand that sells really well. This bra was new with tags and sold within an hour of listing.
Eileen Fisher denim dress & shirt – Sold: $35 (dress) & $29 (shirt)
Both of these items sold within a few days of listing. I’ve heard that Eileen Fisher sells well for some people and not for others. I think the clothing type, fabric content, color, and style make a difference to how quick it will sell.
Vintage print pants (no brand) – Sold: $20
Victoria’s Secret top – Sold: $25
Some Victoria’s Secret items sell well. Swimwear, which has been discontinued, is popular. I pick up items if they’re new with tags or unique and in great condition.
Feetures plantar faciitis socks – Sold: $15
These socks aren’t the least bit exciting, but they’re necessary for people with plantar faciitis. I sold this pair and another pair of compression socks within a few weeks of listing them.
Betabrand dress pant yoga pant – Sold: $45
I knew these pants would sell well because they’re new. They’re a popular style, the right color, and a larger size. I relisted them several times, passed on offers, and waited for the right buyer. They sold for my full asking price.
Alo red leggings – Sold: $20
My favorite items to sell are athletic wear. These leggings were a little worn and still sold rather quickly. The buyer even left a note saying how much she loved the leggings.
Terez animal print leggings – Sold: $49
Noli liquid gloss leggings – Sold: $20
Onzie sweetheart leggings – Sold: $24
JoyLab leggings – Sold: $15
JoyLab isn’t a high-end brand. You can find it at Target. Still, it sells well especially when new.
Albion swim top – Sold: $40
Albion is a hot brand for swimwear and athletic wear. Their clothing is beautiful and feminine. This swim top sold so fast for full price. Don’t pass this brand up!
Anthropologie Maeve tiered plus-size dress: Sold – $70
J. Crew Factory floral dress – Sold: $38
This dress had been listed for a long time. I relisted it and dropped the price of it many times. Imagine my surprise when it sold for full price.
Talbot’s floral swimsuit – Sold: $50
Notes
eBay
eBay has increased the number of listings you get for free! eBay used to give only 50 free listings a month before you had to pay insertion fees or open a paid store. It’s now permanently 200 free listing per month.
Maybe eBay figured out that the company makes more by incentivizing people to list more, which means they sell more.
I appreciate companies like Poshmark and Mercari, where you can list 1,000 items and never have to pay a cent until something sells. They make money only when you make money.
But eBay is international and you can sell almost anything. I’ve been trying to reach 200 listings to take advantage of this change. And guess what?
eBay has been my top-selling platform this summer by far. If you’re not already on eBay, give it a try!
That’s a wrap on my summer sales. I have my figures crossed that it continues into fall and the holiday season.
What’s been selling for you this summer?
